Pup-Date

Hello again! I cannot believe it has been two years since this whole thing began and we opened at our facility on Business 30! I have always loved training and learning/teaching about the emotional side of our animals. As a veterinarian I deal with the medical and wellness end all the time but we always need to connect an animal’s mental and emotional well-being to their physical self. This is what has led me to create and envision what is now Pet Pals Country Club. Although there have been some struggles over the last two years, especially with having to shut everything down for several months due to COVID-19, we are still prevailing and passionate about teaching pet owners how amazing their pets are using humane, kind methods.

One of the biggest changes we had to undergo was discontinuing the boarding and daycare services (hopefully only temporary) due to losing our live-in employee who took great care of our guest pets. Once the pandemic is under control and the risk of having to curtail services is low we hopefully will be able to search for a new caregiver and reopen these services. In the meantime our training and behavior consulting services can grow and meet the needs of our community. The positive part of the pandemic is we are all learning how to utilize more online ways to communicate with clients and provide services, and this is no different for those of us in the pet training world. As a matter of fact we are finding that virtual sessions can actually be more productive in some cases, especially for those pets who are fearful! I am currently working to set up both classes and private sessions that can be done remotely so more options will exist for pet owners. Just like our animals we need to be constant learners. I just wish someone would bring me a piece of chocolate or maybe some cash every time I accomplished one of these tasks, just like we do with clicker training! I might be writing blogs every day if that was the case!!

Anyway, I hope all of you are staying healthy and safe during these difficult times. I am going to work very hard towards writing articles and communicating more great information to you through this blog, our FB, and Instagram account from here on out. Know that as I juggle my crazy busy veterinary position, my passion at Pet Pals and my life as a human and dog, cat, bird, and horse mom I always try to give my best and make this world a better place. I know I was put here to create a more humane world for our animals and I work at it every day, even if it’s only small accomplishments that make an animal’s life just a little bit better. Hope to see you here again soon!! Thanks for reading.
